Adapt-a-bubble

By Sarah Atherton

When you are in business you have to be adaptable, especially during these difficult and challenging times. Some have commented that it seemed like a strange time to start a new business…but once I had made the decision to get started I realised that I needed to press on and get organised.

It’s been a whirlwind to be honest. When I was asked to provide details of my website address on a form to apply to trade at a market (and the form would not submit without the website address), it spurred me on to actually build a website.

In terms of acquiring stock I reached out to various games manufacturers to see if any of them would take a punt with a small start-up like me. Kosmos Games gave me the thumbs up to start with and then Osprey…Big Potato have recently said they would trade with me. It’s all been very exciting! When I got the go ahead to start trading at Enfield Market it was all systems go! Lots to do, lots to learn how to do and loads of fun.

So we were all set to start trading at Enfield Market on Saturday 14th November when the second lockdown was announced. Oh jeez. Back to the drawing board (or rather the website designing board!) As we can’t start our market stall yet I decided to go to step 2 rather earlier than planned…and build an online store (in a weekend).

So here I am on Sunday afternoon - still at my laptop - and merrily researching packaging, delivery costs and all manner of things you have to do when you sell online.

I’m hoping to be ‘open’ in a few days time. GYGOL is learning and growing and being the thing I always say I am on my CV…..adaptable!!
